This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out activities that are not allowed on the Simple Budget application and related services (the "Service") operated by Simple Budget AU PTY LTD (ABN 54 697 674 187, ACN 697 674 187). This AUP is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service.
We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or take other action we reasonably consider appropriate (including notifying law enforcement) in response to any actual or suspected breach of this AUP.
1. Lawful use
You must use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including those of Western Australia and Australia, and any laws applicable in your location.
2. Prohibited content and activities
You must not use the Service to upload, store, transmit, link to, or otherwise make available any content, or to engage in any activity, that:
- Is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, threatening, harassing, or invasive of another's privacy.
- Infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, moral right, or other intellectual property right.
- Violates export-control, sanctions, or anti-money-laundering laws, or is intended to launder funds, evade tax, or finance terrorism.
- Constitutes or facilitates child sexual abuse material, exploitation, or any content that exploits minors.
- Promotes self-harm, violence, or hatred against an individual or group based on protected attributes.
- Contains malware, ransomware, viruses, worms, trojans, or other malicious code.
- Constitutes unsolicited bulk or commercial messaging ("spam") sent through, or facilitated by, the Service.
3. System abuse
You must not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or any system or network connected to the Service.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any associated system or network without our prior written authorisation, except via a coordinated security disclosure to contact@simplebudget.au.
- Bypass, disable, or circumvent any authentication, rate-limiting, or access-control mechanism.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, availability, or performance of the Service, including via denial-of-service attacks, traffic flooding, or resource exhaustion.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code or underlying ideas of the Service, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this limitation.
- Use the Service to develop a competing product or to benchmark for the purpose of competing.
4. Automated access
You must not access or use the Service through any automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers, headless browsers, scripted clients, or similar tools) other than the published APIs and within their documented rate limits, without our prior written consent. We may rate-limit, block, or throttle requests we consider abusive.
5. Account hygiene
You must:
- Provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
- Maintain the confidentiality of your authentication credentials and session tokens.
- Use a strong password where local credentials are involved (we delegate authentication to Microsoft Entra External ID).
- Not share an individual account between multiple people; teams should use the shared-budget feature.
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access at contact@simplebudget.au.
6. Reporting abuse
If you become aware of any breach of this AUP, including content or activity that may be unlawful, please report it to contact@simplebudget.au with enough detail for us to investigate. Reports made in good faith will be treated confidentially to the extent reasonably possible.
7. Coordinated security disclosure
We welcome reports of suspected security vulnerabilities. Please email contact@simplebudget.au with reproduction steps and any relevant artefacts. Do not publicly disclose the issue until we have had a reasonable opportunity to remediate. We will not pursue legal action against researchers who act in good faith and within the scope of this clause.
8. Enforcement
We may, at our sole discretion and without liability:
- Investigate suspected breaches and require you to cooperate.
- Suspend or terminate access to the Service.
- Remove or restrict access to content.
- Disclose information to law enforcement or other authorities where required by law or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, property, or safety.
9. Changes to this AUP
We may update this AUP from time to time. Where changes are material we will notify you in the Service and, where appropriate, by email. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
